Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS, FL (May 10, 2006) - The last time right-handed pitcher Colby Miller donned a Fort Myers Miracle jersey was in 2003. He was the starting and winning pitcher in the game that clinched the first half title for the Miracle that season. Three season's later, Miller will put on a Miracle jersey again in a rehab assignment.

The 24-year-old Miller has battled right elbow and shoulder problems since 2004 and had his 2005 season cut short after 12 starts. He has spent all of 2006 in extended spring making sure all is well with his shoulder and will join the Miracle on Wednesday and continue his rehab. In 2005 Miller was 2-7, 3.60 in 12 starts. In 70.0 innings he had one complete game, walked 19 and struck out 41 while the opposition hit .265 against him.

During his 2003 campaign with the Miracle he pitched 8.1 scoreless innings against the Dunedin Blue Jays in a game the Miracle won 1-0 to clinch the first half Western Division title. He was 9-6, 2.71 in 26 starts. In 156.0 innings he tossed one complete game shutout, while walking 43 and striking out 114 with the opposition hitting .241 against him.

Miller was a third round draft pick of the Twins in 2000 out of Weatherford (OK) High School. The Miracle roster still stands at 24, one shy of the maximum 25, 11 pitchers, 13 position players, six players on the DL and one rehab player.
