13 Hits Help Titans Down Blues 6-4

Jeremy Pena (Maine) went 2-3, sparking the Torrington Titans (24-27) to a 6-4 victory over the Bristol Blues (33-22) on Saturday at Fuessenich Park. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the sixth innings. Pena was just one of six Titans to record a multi-hit game. He was joined by Franklin Jennings (CCSU), Nick Lamberti (UConn), Dean Lockery (CCSU), Mike Conti (Fairfield) and Mac Crispino (Fairfield). Conti reached base five times in the game.

John Russell (UConn- Avery Point) had an impressive outing against the Bristol Blues' lineup. The Bristol Blues managed just one hit off of the the Torrington Titans' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his four innings of work.

Alex Fishberg (Iona) recorded the save for the Titans and is still yet to give up a run in a save situation this season, going a perfect 5-for-5 in save opportunities.

A bright spot for the Bristol Blues in the defeat was Tim Cate, who allowed only one run while striking out six. Christian Budzik was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted two innings, walked four, and allowed three runs, but none of them earned.
