1000 Islands "Dash" Danville Hopes

Despite the foul weather earlier in the day, the 1000 Islands Privateers surged to a 5-2 victory over the visiting Danville Dashers. Riding on Adam McAllister's hat trick evening, and solid play from a deep bench, the Privateers took control of the game from the start and never relinquished the lead. The win brings the team record to 21-5 and tightens the race for first place in the FHL, with 1000 Islands 3 games behind leading New Jersey.

McAllister started the trick at 2:03 in the 1st (Ryan Pearson, Brad Pawlowski). Strong play and fierce contact followed until Paul Kelly netted at 11:41 (Jeremy Akeson, Brad Smulders) notching #2 for the Privateers. Akeson followed the goal with two penalties, as well as Danville's Chris Affinati's fighting major to finish the period.

McAllister's second on the night was the only score in the 2nd, (Smulders) at :19 seconds in. Once again, aggressive play on both squads played a major part in the period, and it finished with 1000 Islands leading by a 3-0 margin.

Danville rallied in the opening 3rd with Justin Barr hitting an unassisted and shorthanded score at 1:16 to get the Dashers on the board. However, Privateer Michael Byrd silenced the effort at 2:17 (Michael Richard, Chad Bezin) to keep the 3 -up lead. Danville's Barr got his second of the night at 7:01 (Ryan Huggett, Affinati) as the Dashers tried to chip away, but they could not muster another red light, leaving McAllister to complete the trick on an empty-net shorthander at 19:45 (Richard, Byrd), for the victory.

The Privateers take to the road for Friday's game against the Danbury Whalers. Their next home game will be a Martin Luther King Day contest against visiting Cape Cod.
