July 12, 2014 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
North Carolina FC News Release
CARY, NC - The Carolina RailHawks (0W-0T-1L, 0pts) dropped their Fall Opener against Indy Eleven (1W-0T-0L, 3pts) on Saturday night. RailHawks midfielder Enzo Martinez scored the first goal of the match, but a red card to defender Austen King in the 57th minute and two Indy goals in the second half sent the RailHawks to a 2-1 loss.
Both clubs created their chances in the first half, but it was the RailHawks who scored first in the 24th minute with a goal from Uruguayan midfielder Enzo Martinez. After dribbling inside of the box, Martinez blasted the ball off the outstretched fingers of Kristian Nicht and into the back of net.
"We are very disappointed with the result," said RailHawks Head Coach Colin Clarke. "There is no excuse for giving up three points at home. We have to move on and go on the road and try to get a different result."
A red card to RailHawks defender Austen King in the 57th minute of play led to the RailHawks having to play down a man for the rest of the game. After the red card, Indy Eleven's Ben Spencer and Don Smart would go on to score goals in the 65th and 87th minute, respectively.
The RailHawks return to NASL action on Thursday when they travel to Minnesota to take on Minnesota United FC at 8:00pm. You can follow the match live on www.NASLLive.com.
The RailHawks return to WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday, July 26th to host Ottawa Fury FC. Prior to the game, the RailHawks will be hosting the 3rd Annual Pre-game Pig Pickin' Festival.
