
10 Former Blizzard Players Tabbed to Start in AFL Opening Weekend

With the AFL season set to start on Friday, February 29th, a few familiar faces will be noticeable to Blizzard fans and 10 former Blizzard players are tabbed to start for their respective teams.
2007 Blizzard standouts DB Ronnie Amadi (New York Dragons), OL/DL Jason Hardee (New York Dragons), and DB Stephen Cason (Georgia Force) will be helping their new teams in the AFL start off on the right track towards an ArenaBowl Championship.
Amadi and Hardee will make their debuts on the road vs. the expansion Cleveland Gladiators on Monday, March 3rd, 2008 at 7:00 PM ET. Amadi and Hardee each bring their own talents to the field, each of which were a welcomed addition to the Dragons organization. Amadi was a Second Team All-af2 selection at defensive back and led the af2 in passes defended with 36 including 8 interceptions during the 2007 season. Hardee led the 2007 Blizzard with 8.0 sacks to go along with 21.5 tackles and an interception.
Another familiar face will be DB Stephen Cason who will be making his debut vs. the Dallas Desperados on Saturday, March 1st, 2008 at 1:00 PM ET on ABC. Cason, who rewrote the Blizzard record books in 2007 with 113 total regular season tackles, will be joined in the defensive backfield by former Green Bay Blizzard DB David Crocker. OL/DL Aqua Etefia (Georgia Force) and FB/LB Antonio Ficklin (Kansas City Brigade) have also made their respective teams. Former Blizzard QB Chris Grisen and Sturgeon Bay, WI native who led the AFL in TD passes in 2007 with 117, WR/DB Brent Holmes, and FB/LB Matt Huebner will be playing alongside Cason and Crocker with the Georgia Force. 5 of the 16 starters for the Georgia Force will be players that have played for the Green Bay Blizzard.
Other Blizzard players that will be playing opening weekend are WR/DB Ryan Bowers (Cleveland Gladiators), FB/LB Peter Lazare (Columbus Destroyers), OL/DL Robert Boss (Chicago Rush), OL/DL Brett Huyser (Colorado Crush), and QB James McPherson (Grand Rapids Rampage) all of whom spent time with the Blizzard.
