BROOKLYN, NY --- Drew Butera's two-out RBI double scored Jesus Gamero from first base in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Brooklyn Cyclones a 5-4 victory over the Vermont Expos in New York-Penn League action Thursday night at Keyspan Park.

After Expos reliever Craig Stammen (3-4) got a pair of groundouts to begin the 11th, Gamero singled through the right side. Butera then lined a double over centerfielder Francisco Plasencia's head to plate the winning run and snap Vermont's four-game winning streak.

Vermont took a 2-0 early in the game on a two-out, two-run triple to rightcenter from Plasencia in the top of the second. The Cyclones tied the game in the bottom of the second on an RBI groundout from Kaz Matsui, on a rehab assignment from the New York Mets, and a RBI infield single from Caleb Stewart.

Brooklyn took a 4-2 lead in the fifth with two unearned runs on three walks and a two-run error. Vermont starter Gene Yost walked the bases loaded in the inning around a fielder's choice and pop out, then Gamero smashed a Yost pitch that went right through third baseman Leonard Davis' legs to give the Cyclones the two-run lead.

Vermont was able to tie the game in the eighth inning when Mike Daniel lashed a two-out, two-run single to score Plasencia and Davis to tie the game 4-4.

Both teams had chances to break the tie before the 11th inning. The Cyclones loaded the bases with one-out on three more Expos walks, but reliever Edward Rodriguez got Stewart to lineout to Davis for an unassisted double play to end the threat. Vermont had runners on first and third with one out in the top of the 11th, but Jose Contreras grounded into a 4-3 double play to keep the game tied.

Both pitching staffs had trouble finding the strike zone as Cyclone pitchers walked seven, but also struckout eight Expos. The four Vermont pitchers combined to walk nine without striking out a single Brooklyn batter.

Along with the ending of Vermont's four-game winning streak, the Expo s are now 0-8 all-time at Brooklyn since the Cyclones joined the league in 2001. Vermont will look again for their first win in Brooklyn on Friday night with John Lannan getting the start for the Expos.
