Avon Police & Fire Department "Battle of the Badges" Charity Softball Game at ForeFront Field

September 14, 2026 - Avon, OH - On Sunday, September 27th, ForeFront Field will play host to the annual "Battle of the Badges" softball game. Batting practice starts at 11am and the game will begin at 12pm noon. Each year, the Avon Police Department and Avon Fire Department square off in a friendly rivalry match to see which first responder group will claim slow-pitch softball dominance for the year. Redfield Breaks Franchise Stolen Base Record, Crushers Smoke Joliet

September 5, 2026 - Avon, OH - The Lake Erie Crushers (41-59) started the final fireworks show of the season with some offensive fireworks against the Joliet Slammers (42-59) on Saturday night. The Grapes won it 10-3. Both starters went two scoreless innings, but the Crushers brought the fireworks in the 3rd on a 400-foot bomb from 1B Brayden Jobert. Watkins Hits Historic Grand Slam in Friday Night Defeat

September 4, 2026 - Avon, OH - The Lake Erie Crushers (40-59) were taken aback by the Joliet Slammers (42-58) on Friday night at ForeFront Field, but a big blast gave the large crowd a historic moment to cheer about for one of the greatest Grapes in franchise history. Walks plagued Crushers LHP Jack Eisenbarger early on. A 1st inning walk came around to score, then two more scored in the 2nd. Crushers' Catcher, Youngstown Native Ian Francis Signed by Cincinnati Reds

September 4, 2026 - Avon, OH - The Lake Erie Crushers announced today that catcher Ian Francis had his player contract purchased by the Cincinnati Reds organization on Tuesday afternoon. Ian Francis was signed by the Crushers on August 17th. The 23 year-old Youngstown, Ohio native played three college seasons at Youngstown State University before transferring to the University of Kansas in 2025.
