
Chicago Storm to Host Legends Game at 4:30 P.M. on Sunday

Chicago (Thursday, March 31, 2005) â The Chicago Storm announced today the rosters for the Chicago Soccer Legends Game on Sunday, April 3 at 4:30 p.m. CT at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. The game will feature former players from various Chicago teams and they will pit Team Granitza against Team Steffenhagen. The game will be played prior to the Storm's contest with the St. Louis Steamers at 6:00 p.m. CT at the Pavilion.
"We are excited to present this Legends Game to the fans," said Storm Head Coach Frank Klopas. "We feel this will be a great event for everyone involved and it will be fun to play with some old friends again. Chicago has such a rich soccer history and it will be on display Sunday in a very special way."
Team Granitza will be captained by former Chicago Sting great and National Soccer Hall of Famer Karl-Heinz Granitza and it will be coached by former Chicago Sting Head Coach Willy Roy. Granitza's team will consist of Storm Head Coach and former Sting and Fire legend Frank Klopas, Storm Assistant and Fitness Coach Jeff Kraft, Chicago Fire Head Coach Dave Sarachan and assistant coaches Denis Hamlett and Daryl Shore. The Sting's Derek Spalding, Charlie Fajkus and David Huson will join Team Granitza in their quest to capture the first Chicago Soccer Legends Game.
Team Steffenhagen will be led by Sting midfield great Arno Steffenhagen and former New York Cosmos superstar Vladislav Bogicevic, otherwise known as "Bogie", who will coach the All-Star team. Storm Chairman and CEO Viktor Jakovljevic, Assistant Coach Oscar Albuquerque and Storm National Sales Director Rudy Glenn will anchor the team, while former Sting and Power maestro Pato Margetic will attempt to breakdown the opposing defense. They will be joined by former Sting players John Tyma, Hayden Knight, and Drago Dumbovic. Former Power midfielder Tommy Isirov will add depth to the team as former Power teammate Brad Hauter will start the game between the pipes.

The teams will be introduced by former Chicago Sting and Power play-by-play voice and current Chicago Fire public address announcer Howard Balson. The game will consist of two 10-minute halves. A selection of the special game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off during the Storm's game during a special silent auction. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the FireWorks For Kids Foundation, the charitable arm of the Chicago Fire. Also, immediately after the Storm-Steamers game, all Legends players will greet fans and sign autographs.
Individual tickets are available and range in price from $8 to $25 and can be purchased by calling the Storm's front office (312) 226-GOAL (4625), Ticketmaster (312) 559-1212 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com. Fans can also purchase individual tickets at the UIC box office located on 525 South Racine, Chicago, IL 60607. The box office is open from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Formed on June 3, 2004, the Chicago Storm became the seventh team in the MISL, joining the two-time defending champion Baltimore Blast, Cleveland Force, Kansas City Comets, Milwaukee Wave, Philadelphia Kixx and St. Louis Steamers. The California Cougars will join the league for the start of the 2005-06 season to bring the leagues total to eight teams. Storm home games are played at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago.
