
'Wolves Hit Two Homers But Fall to Baysox

The SeaWolves dropped the middle game of a three-game series to the Bowie Baysox on Tuesday night at UPMC Park 7-3.
Bowie took the lead in the top of the third against SeaWolves starter Sandy Baez. With one out, Cedric Mullins doubled and Anderson Feliz singled, putting runners on the corners. Corban Joseph singled to right, and on a Kenny Wilson error, all three runs came in to score for a 3-0 lead. Ademar Rifaela followed with a solo home run to right for a 4-0 Baysox edge.
Erie cut into the lead in the last of the fourth against Bowie starter Keegan Akin when Kody Eaves led off with a solo home run to right making it 4-1. The home run for Eaves was his second of the season and second in as many games.
In the bottom of the fifth, the SeaWolves loaded the bases on a Kade Scivicque walk, A.J. Simcox single and Jacob Robson walk. An Akin wild pitch allowed Scivicque to score to make it a 4-2 game.
Bowie added to its lead in the top of the sixth. With two outs and Adrian Marin on base, Erick Salcedo doubled home the runner, making it 5-2 Baysox.
The Baysox would add two more runs in the seventh off of reliever Kyle Dowdy on a pair of solo home runs from Joseph and Austin Hayes.
The SeaWolves scored a run in the bottom of the eighth against reliever Luis Gonzalez when Robson led off with a solo home run to straight away center making it 7-3. The home run for Robson was his first of the season and fifth of his career.
Akin (3-2) earned the win for Bowie allowing two runs on two hits with three walks and a career-high 12 strikeouts in six innings.
Baez (0-2) took the loss for Erie allowing a season-high five runs on 11 hits with a walk and two strikeouts in six innings.
The SeaWolves and Baysox meet in the rubber game of the series on Wednesday morning at 11:05 a.m. Righty Spencer Turbull (0-3, 6.50 ERA) takes the mound for Erie.
