May 19, 2017 - Midwest League (MWL1) - Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI - Jaylin Davis homered twice for the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Thursday night to lead them to a 6-3 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Davis, who hit three homers in a game on May 16 against Peoria, has nine home runs to lead the Midwest League in that category.

Demi Orimoloye gave the Timber Rattlers (18-19) a lead in the bottom of the first inning. Orimoloye lined a lead-off home run, his seventh homer of the season, and Wisconsin was ahead 1-0.

Davis started the Cedar Rapids second inning with his eighth home run of the season and the game was tied 1-1.

Davis gave the Kernels (24-16) the lead in the top of the fourth. Mitchell Kranson drew a walk to start the inning against Rattlers starting pitcher Braden Webb. Davis followed with a two-run home run to center and the Kernels were up 3-1.

The Kernels pulled away with three runs in the top of the sixth against Rattlers reliever Cameron Roegner. It was Davis who started the rally with a double to right-center. A single by Travis Blankenhorn put runners at the corners. Wisconsin catcher Mario Feliciano let a pitch get past him for a passed ball to allow Davis to score. Later in the inning, an infield single by Brandon Lopez drove in Blankenhorn with an infield single. The final run of the inning scored when Roegner's errant pickoff throw to first with runners at the corners allowed the runner at third to score.

The home run by Orimoloye was the only run the Rattlers scored off Cedar Rapids starting pitcher Domenick Carlini, who went six innings and scattered five hits for his second straight victory.

Wisconsin rallied for two runs with in the bottom of the ninth inning. Orimoloye and Mario Feliciano had consecutive RBI singles with two outs, but Wisconsin would get no closer.
