Westchester Knicks Suffer Setback at Home to Sevens
January 7, 2017 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release
WHITE PLAINS, NY - The Westchester Knicks (10-10), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, dropped its third game in a row, falling 116-88 to the Delaware 87ers (12-9), the Philadelphia 76ers' affiliate, at home.
On assignment from the New York Knicks, forward Maurice Ndour paced Westchester with 16 points, adding seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Center Marshall Plumlee, also on assignment from New York, notched a double- double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Chasson Randle finished with 14 points, three assists, and two rebounds.
Former Westchester Knick Devondrick Walker led all scorers in the game, coming off the bench with 21 points, adding seven rebounds and two steals. Shawn Long was right behind him with 20 points, grabbing a double-double with 11 rebounds. David Laury III finished with 14 points, and four each of rebounds and assists.
Westchester put the first point on the board, and kept the lead through the entire first half. The teams were mostly evenly matched throughout the first two quarters though, the Sevens keeping the Knicks' lead to single digits. Heading into the second half, the home team led by five.
Then, the second half happened. The Knicks shot a dismal 27 percent in the third, while Delaware had a respectable 28- point quarter on 54 percent shooting. The fourth quarter showed even less mercy for Westchester, the team managing to put just 16 more points on the board while the Sevens went off for 38 points, marked by a 12-0 run to start the final twelve minutes. With Delaware up by 30 with 39.6 second to go, Marshall Plumlee spared the Knicks a 30-point loss with a put- back dunk, Westchester taking a 116-88 loss.
The Westchester Knicks are back home at the historic Westchester County Center on Tuesday, Jan. 10 to take on the Maine Red Claws, the Boston Celtics' affiliate, for a 7:00 p.m. match-up.
