Fort Wayne, IN- The Windy City Bulls (7-11), presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official NBA Development League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, snapped a seven game losing streak with a 113-102 victory over the Westchester Knicks on Friday evening at the Sears Centre Arena.
Windy City received a combined 50 points and 18 rebounds from Chicago Bulls forwards Bobby Portis and Paul Zipser who were assigned to Windy City earlier in the day. Portis led all scorers with 32 points and nine rebounds, while Zipser added 18 points, 16 of them coming in the second half, to go with nine boards.
Aaron Thomas (17 points) and Alfonzo McKinnie (15 points) rounded out the double figure scoring for the Bulls.
Westchester, the NBA Development League Affiliate of the New York Knicks, dropped to 10-9 with the loss despite a team high 22 points from Illinois native Chasson Randle. The Knicks also had two assignments from their NBA Affiliate, with Marshall Plumlee contributing 14 points and Maurice Ndour adding six.
After building a nine-point first half lead and holding a 58-54 advantage at the half, the Bulls trailed 89-87 early in the fourth period before a dunk by McKinnie ignited a run. Back-to-back jumpers by guard Thomas Walkup in the closing minutes enabled Windy City to pull away and earn the victory.
The Bulls continue its back-to-back home stand at the Sears Centre tomorrow night when they host Raptors 905 on Dog Night. Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs and enjoy a night of Barks and Beers. For tickets and game information, visit WindyCityBulls.com.
