Windy City Bulls Announce Basketball Leadership Updates

Hoffman Estates, Ill. - The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, announced today that Alex Kaufman has been named General Manager and Quincy Pondexter has been named Head Coach.

Kaufman will serve in a dual role as the General Manager of the Windy City Bulls and Senior Manager of Basketball Operations with the Chicago Bulls. Prior to joining the Bulls organization, Kaufman spent seven seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans serving most recently as the General Manager for the then Birmingham Squadron for the 2025-26 NBA G League season.

Prior to being elevated to General Manager with the Squadron, Kaufman served as Manager of Player Evaluation and Basketball Operations with the New Orleans Pelicans, assisting with the day-to-day operations of the organization's professional and collegiate scouting departments. Kaufman joined the Pelicans in 2019 as a Basketball Operations and Scouting Assistant and was later promoted to Scouting Coordinator. Prior to joining New Orleans, he spent the 2018-19 season as a Basketball Operations Associate with the Charlotte Hornets.

A native of New Orleans, La., Kaufman attended the University of Texas, where he served as a student manager and graduate assistant with the men's basketball program. He earned a bachelor's degree in sport management and a master's degree in physical education. Kaufman lives to honor the loving memory of his late mother, Lisa Kaufman.

Alongside Kaufman, Quincy Pondexter joins Windy City as the sixth head coach in the franchise's ten-year history. Pondexter most recently served as an assistant coach at the University of Washington, his alma mater, during the 2025-26 season having previously served as an assistant coach for the Huskies from 2021-24. Prior to his return to the Pacific Northwest, he spent the 2024-25 season with the University of Southern California men's basketball program, acting as an assistant coach under Eric Musselman.

A 6-foot-7 forward, Pondexter had an eight-year NBA playing career and finished his playing days with the San Antonio Spurs (2018-19). Prior to San Antonio, he spent time with the Chicago Bulls (2017-18) playing in 23 games alongside Windy City alum Ryan Arcidiacono. Pondexter's NBA career included time with New Orleans (2010-11, 2014-15) and Memphis (2011-15). He was selected with the 26th overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder and was subsequently traded to the New Orleans Hornets for his rookie season. Pondexter retired with career averages of 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds across 355 games. He reached the NBA playoffs five times.

The Fresno, Calif., native played collegiately at Washington from 2006-10. He notched 1,786 career points, ranking fifth on the Huskies' all-time scoring list. He earned numerous accolades during his time at Washington and was named First Team All-Pac-10 and named to the Pac-10 All-Tournament Team his senior year. Pondexter also set a Pac-10 record with five Player of the Week honors in his final season.

Kaufman and Pondexter join the Windy City Bulls in the franchise's Tenth Anniversary Season. Opening Night is set for Friday, November 6 at NOW Arena.
