PORTLAND, ME, - The Westchester Knicks (21-10), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, continues to command the road as a 113-107 win over the Maine Red Claws (13-14), the Boston Celtics' affiliate, puts the team at 13-2 when playing as the visitors.
Knicks Two-Way player Isaiah Hicks paced Westchester in the win with 23 points falling just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds on top of two blocked shots. Guard Billy Garrett continued his production from the bench with 21 points on the night, while Adam Woodbury supplied eight each of points and rebounds from the pine. Knicks affiliate Xavier Rathan Mayes recorded his ninth double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds as Damyean Dotson did a bit of everything with 18 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. Two-Way player Luke Kornet finished with 16 points, nine rebounds, and four blocked shots.
Two Red Claws players scored thirty-plus points in the loss. Guard Trey Davis led all scorers in the game with 36 points to go with eight each of rebounds and assists, while Devin Williams had a stellar performance from the bench with a double-double of 30 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Daniel Dixon provided 22 points with five rebounds, and center Anthony Bennett chipped in a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
It was a high-scoring first quarter for both teams as each had a player with 10 points after the first twelve minutes (Isaiah Hicks for Westchester, Trey Davis for Maine). With the score 33-31, the game began to shift in the second towards the Knicks' favor as the visitors put on a 38-point display in the quarter while the Red Claws put up a respectable 26. The second quarter domination put Westchester ahead by 10 at the half.
The third quarter was not like the rest, as the Knicks mustered up just 18 points. After only two turnovers in the first half, Westchester had six in the third, good for seven points for Maine. The home team closed the quarter with a 16-9 run to pull within three heading into the final quarter. Though the Red Claws tied it up on its first shot of the fourth, Westchester quickly regained its lead back up to as many as nine points. Not to be deterred, Maine's Devin Williams laid one in to make it a one-possession game with 1:05 on the clock. But as a finish to his 11-point quarter, Westchester's Billy Garrett answered with a jump shot and free throw to solidify a 113-107 Knicks win.
