Westchester Knicks Light up Salt Lake City Stars in Fiery Home Win

WHITE PLAINS, NY, December 19, 2017 - The Westchester Knicks (14-6), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, put itself back in the win column with a 98-83 win over the Salt Lake City Stars (3-16), the Utah Jazz's affiliate, after returning home from a 3-1 road trip.

Knicks affiliate Trey Burke paced Westchester for the eighth game in a row, knocking down 28 points with six assists, three rebounds, and two assists. Knicks Two-Way player Isaiah Hicks recorded a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds while blocking three shots; Nigel Hayes just missing one with 11 points and nine rebounds. Billy Garrett supplied 13 points with four rebounds from the bench and Paul Watson, starting in place of injured Two-Way player Luke Kornet, contributed nine points, six rebounds, and two steals.

Jermaine Taylor led the Stars with 19 points, adding five rebounds and two each of assists and steals. Taylor Braun notched a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds with four assists. Torian Graham provided 14 points and three rebounds off the bench, while Michael Qualls, who was ejected from the game in the middle of the fourth quarter. put up 13 points and four rebounds.

The Knicks dominated the first half, keeping the lead from the get-go and running up as much as a 26-point lead over the Stars. Not to be completely deterred, Salt Lake City fared better in the third quarter, cutting its deficit in more than half to 11 with 3:01 on the clock. The visitors remained there heading into the final twelve minutes, but it was as far as the score would stretch as Westchester used a 9-0 run to push its lead back up to 20. Just before the run, a double-technical for Westchester's Xavier Rathan-Mayes and Salt Lake City's Michael Qualls saw Qualls ejected from the game. Though tensions were high, the action on the court remained lopsided as the home team walked away with a 98-83 win.

The Westchester Knicks will face the Lakeland Magic, the Orlando Magic's affiliate, for a 7:00 p.m. ET matchup on Thursday, Dec. 21. The game will be available to stream live via MSG GO and Facebook Live. The Salt Lake City Stars also play Thursday as they return home to host the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Miami Heat's affiliate, at 7:00 p.m. MT. That game will be streaming live on Twitch.
