December 20, 2016 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release
WHITE PLAINS, NY - The Westchester Knicks (8-5), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, fell at home to the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the Los Angeles Lakers' affiliate, 121-115 tonight at the Westchester County Center.
Westchester's newest teammate Von Wafer led all scorers in tonight's contest with 24 points off the bench, Chasson Randle right behind him with 23 points to go with seven assists and two steals. On assignment from the New York Knicks, Maurice Ndour dropped in 22 points along with seven rebounds, his New York teammate Marshall Plumlee just shy of a double- double with 10 rebounds and nine points. Kevin Capers also supplied 15 points from the bench, with six assists.
Los Angeles' Jeff Ayres finished with 23 points and six rebounds before he was ejected on a flagrant two with 5:00 left in the fourth quarter. Vander Blue had 22 points, four rebounds, and three steals on the night. Justin Harper supplied 18 points and five rebounds, while Josh Magette knocked in 15 points with eight rebounds.
Los Angeles tipped the game off with a 13-4 run to gain a quick lead over Westchester, the visitors widening the gap to as many as 19 points in the first quarter. At that point however, the Knicks had had enough and turned it around with a 13-0 run to tighten it up, coming within five to end the quarter. Both teams stayed hot in the second, Westchester taking over the lead on four occasions, but the D-Fenders squeaked out a two-point lead at the half.
The third quarter was where it all went wrong for Westchester. Managing just seven points in the first eight minutes, the Knicks found themselves down by 18 towards the end of the third. A 6-2 run helped the hosts cut the deficit, but heading into the fourth, the D-Fenders still led by 14.
The Knicks chipped away in the fourth, using a 13-2 run to pull within three with just over three minutes left. A quick back- and-forth pursued, but the D-Fenders held onto its lead. A Chasson Randle three with 22.6 seconds on the clock put Westchester within two, but the Knicks couldn't capitalize and fell 121-115.
The Westchester Knicks are back home at the Westchester County Center on Friday, Dec. 23 for a 7:00 p.m. ET matchup against the Raptors 905, the Toronto Raptors' affiliate.
