
Warriors Tip-Off NBA Season of Giving with Toys for Tots Event

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors are launching the team's Season Of Giving community outreach initiative as part of the NBA Cares Season of Giving league-wide campaign to brighten the lives of Central Coast families and youth this holiday season, it was announced today. To tip-off the initiative, the Warriors will participate in a gift collection event in partnership with Toys for Tots and Hotel Paradox on Saturday, December 10 at Hotel Paradox in Santa Cruz (611 Ocean Street) from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
As part of the team's Season of Giving initiative, each Warriors player and coach will participate in at least one event to brighten the lives of local families and youth in the Bay Area this holiday season. Additional upcoming events include "Adopt-A-Family" on December 16 and a Warriors-hosted event for foster youth in partnership with CASA of Santa Cruz County and New Families.
The Warriors tipped off the Season of Giving by partnering with "THE POLAR EXPRESS Train Ride" to present Santa Cruz-area children and their families with 100 tickets to ride the Polar Express. Coach Casey Hill along with players Dennis Clifford and Cam Jones visited Branciforte Small Schools to read "The Polar Express" along with the Conductor from the book. Children and their families from Branciforte Small Schools took the magical journey onboard the Santa Cruz & Monterey Bay Railway on November 23.
NBA Cares is the league's global social responsibility program that builds on the NBA's mission of addressing important social issues. This season, as part of the 11th anniversary of its creation, NBA Cares is renewing its commitment to communities around the world by inspiring play and teaching basketball's values to more than 15 million youth, providing an additional 3 million hours of hands-on service to others, and leaving a lasting legacy in communities by building 1,000 more safe places to live, learn or play by 2025. NBA Cares works with internationally recognized youth-serving programs that support education, youth and family development, and health-related causes, including: Special Olympics, YMCA of the USA, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, UNICEF, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Share Our Strength and GLSEN.
