Tracking Down Juice the Moose

July 6, 2007 - Texas League (TL1)
Midland RockHounds News Release

From Vancouver to Oakland...Juice the Moose gets closer to West Texas!

Last week we announced new details about Juice the Moose possibly spending the off-season in the Vancouver area with his family. This week new details have been uncovered about Juice's whereabouts.

After receiving a copy of SlapJack's letter to Rocky, General Manager Monty Hoppel contacted the Vancouver Canadians (Oakland Athletics short-season single-A affiliate). Through a quick phone call Monty found out that Juice had actually stopped in to say hello and request directions to several different Ballparks in California (Stockton, Sacramento and Oakland). Apparently, Juice had decided to make a trek through the Oakland A's system by visiting all the affiliate teams.

In the past week RockHounds front office members have been trying to track down the Moose to get him back to Citibank Ballpark as soon as possible. Without directly speaking with Juice, the RockHounds have put together a brief description of the timeline and exactly what Juice has been up to and how he has lost track of time.

Thursday, April 5th - (RockHounds Opening Day): Juice spent two weeks in Vancouver with his family and helped train a new mascot for the Canadians. Saturday, April 21st - (Support the Troops Rally at Citibank Ballpark): Juice arrives in Sacramento (Triple-A) to hang out with the RiverCats staff and to say hi to former RockHounds such as Daric Barton, Jason Windsor and Dallas Braden. Wednesday, May 16th - (Trauma Awareness Day): Juice is spotted in Stockton, CA (Single-A) with the Ports mascot ‘Splash'...after spending two weeks learning how to water ski with Splash, Juice moved on to his next destination. Saturday, May 26th - (Principal Family FunFest): Juice is spotted in Oakland with Huston Street. Juice and Huston had been great friends during the 2004 RockHounds season. Huston Street informed us that Juice had talked about how he was feeling old and how he needed a makeover to revitalize his career.

"It sounds as if Juice is doing well, we hope to get into contact with him in the next week, so that we can get him on the next flight here," said RockHounds General Manager Monty Hoppel. "At this point getting Juice back to the Permian Basin is our number one priority and we hope to have him back at Citibank Ballpark by Thursday, July 12th."

As of Friday, July 6th, the last thing the RockHounds had heard was that Juice was heading to Hollywood to receive a makeover. Various calls have been made to the Los Angeles area in hopes of finding an oversized moose in a RockHounds uniform. Stay tuned as the RockHounds will announce any new information as it becomes available.
