January 4, 2017 - NBA G League (G League)
Texas Legends News Release

FRISCO, TX- Texas Legends Care, the official 501C3 foundation of the Texas Legends, is a finalist for the Frisco Chamber of Commerce's Non-Profit of the Year award the Legends announced today.

Texas Legends Care (TLC) functions as the community outreach arm of the Legends. The foundation provides volunteers, goods and services, and financial assistance to other nonprofits in the area such as Orphan Secure, Texas Ice, American Heart Association-Collin County, Goodwill Industries-Dallas, and Feeding Frisco 5000.

"We are so honored to be nominated for this award!" said TLC Executive Director Sherry Cassidy. "To be recognized for such a major accomplishment in only our third year is a huge testament to the Legends and their heart for giving back."

In 2015-16 TLC began a bus program that provides an all-inclusive game experience (transportation, game tickets, and meals) to individuals from low income areas. In its first season, the bus program served over 3,000 children, parents, and teachers from Dallas ISD, Plano ISD, and various nonprofit organizations in the area.

"The foundation affords us even more opportunities to do what we're here to do," stated Dallas Mavericks President/GM and Legends Owner Donnie Nelson. "Evan [Wyly] and I brought this team to North Texas to give back to a community that's given so much to our families. The foundation helps us do that and it's an incredible honor to have Texas Legends Care receiving attention for the hard work Sherry and the staff put in."

Most recently, Texas Legends Care partnered with The Home Depot Foundation to rebuild a fence for a local veteran in need. TLC and The Home Depot have partnered to make the Home Depot Community Hero a recognized part of Legends home games. Each game, Home Depot and TLC select an individual who is making a difference in the community and honor the hero and their family with a VIP experience at the game.
