Solid All-Around Play Lifts Iowa over Austin

Cedar Park, Texas- The Iowa Energy (10-28) allowed their lowest scoring total of the season to an opponent Sunday afternoon, defeating the Austin Spurs (17-20) 102-89 in Cedar Park, Texas.

As a team, the Energy shot at a 48 percent clip, including 38 percent from three (9-24).

Memphis Grizzlies assignee Wade Baldwin IV gave the Energy a spark on offense, finishing with a game-high 22 points on 9-13 shooting from the field, including 2-2 from deep. The Vanderbilt alum also recorded four rebounds, three assists and three steals in the win.

In one of the team's most complete outings of the season, the Energy led for all but 58 seconds of the game and never trailed to the home team. A 4-4 tie with 10:11 remaining in the first quarter was the closest the Spurs came to victory.

The Energy outscored the Spurs 26-4 in fast break points and points in the pain (40-36).

Jarell Martin and JaKarr Sampson each tallied 14 points offensively and finished with similar stat lines. Martin went 6-of-10 from the floor and hauled in seven rebounds while Sampson finished 6-of-11 and collected five rebounds.

Wes Washpun finished in double figures for the first time since Jan. 28. The UNI graduate post 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

Bryn Forbes had a team-high 16 points for the Spurs, who managed to have just two players finish in double figures.

The Iowa Energy continue their two-game road trip this Friday against the Oklahoma City Blue at 7:00 p.m. before returning to Wells Fargo Arena on Sunday, March 5 to host the Maine Red Claws on Faith and Family Day.
