RIDERS SWEEP WEEKLY LEAGUE AWARDS FRISCO, Texas - Pitchers Yohander Mendez and Collin Wiles, along with infielder/outfielder Royce Bolinger were named Texas League co-Pitchers and Player of the week, respectively, the league announced Monday.
Mendez and Wiles each dealt seven-inning complete game shutouts in Saturday's doubleheader sweep against Arkansas. Mendez allowed three hits and struck out five, while Wiles allowed just two hits in his shutout victory. The duo combined for Frisco's first consecutive shutout wins since April 2015.
Bolinger hit .412 (7-17) with a double, three home runs and five RBIs in five games last week. All three of his home runs came during Saturday's doubleheader, including his first-career multi-homer game in game one of the twin bill.
Mendez and Bolinger each earned their second-career weekly honor and their first from the Texas League, while Wiles earned his first Pitcher of the Week award. The trio represents the first weekly award winners for the RoughRiders this season.
The RoughRiders begin an eight-game road trip Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. in Corpus Christi against the Hooks. The club returns home for an eight-game homestand against San Antonio and Midland from June 14-21.
