Seattle - On Wednesday, July 18, Seattle Reign FC forward Megan Rapinoe won the award for Best NWSL Player at the ESPYs. The ceremony was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, CA, and hosted by Danica Patrick.

Rapinoe was nominated along with Adrianna Franch (Portland Thorns FC), Sam Kerr (Chicago Red Stars), and Sam Mewis (North Carolina Courage). This was the first year the ESPYs honored a Best NWSL Player, making Rapinoe the first person to bring home the award.

Jodie Taylor, Rapinoe's teammate at Seattle Reign FC, was nominated for Best International Women's Soccer Player. That award was given to Australian forward Sam Kerr.

"I'm honored to receive the ESPY for Best NWSL Player," Rapinoe said. "To win it in the first year of existence is pretty cool. I was happy to see them recognize the NWSL and women's sports at large."

Rapinoe, Taylor, and Seattle Reign FC's next home match is on Sunday, August 5 on the UW Medicine Pitch at Memorial Stadium. The team hosts the Washington Spirit at 6:00 p.m. PT. Tickets for the match are available at reignfc.com/tickets.
