Texas Legends News Release
CEDAR PARK, TX- The Texas Legends (10-6) held off a fourth quarter comeback attempt by the Austin Spurs (7-11) to grab their third straight road win 130-125.
The two teams exchanged leads four times in the first before tying it up at the buzzer. Manny Harris went 4-for-5 and was flawless from the free throw line to power out 12 points in the second as the Legends forged a 13-point gap between themselves and the home team. Texas entered the locker room shooting 60% outside and 56% overall to Austin's 33% and 45% overall.
Jameel Warney got the scoring started in the second half where he would ultimately go 8-of-9. Spurs assignee Bryn Forbes led Austin's comeback attempt with 13 third-quarter points, but the Legends would match every Spurs basket and carry the 13-point advantage into the final quarter. Forbes opened the fourth with a dunk before the Legends responded with a 9-0 run. Texas took their largest lead of the night (+21) right after the nine-minute mark, but Daniel Nwaelele responded with an outsider to open the door for the Spurs' six three-pointers in the final minutes. Austin pulled within three with 11 seconds to play but Harris would seal the victory for the Legends at the foul line.
Harris led all scorers, nearing his season-high with 47 points and adding 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Warney tallied the game's only double-double of 22 points, 11 rebounds, and grabbed a game-high 4 steals. CJ Williams knocked down 4-of-8 from outside to finish with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals, while Quincy Acy blocked a season-high 5 shots and contributed 17 points, 6 boards.
Forbes led the Spurs with 35 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals while Nwaelele finished with 20 points, 4 rebounds off the bench. Cory Jefferson and Charles Garcia added 12 points apiece and Jeff Ledbetter rounded off the double-digit scorers with 11.
