Legends Finish Home Schedule with a Sellout

FRISCO, TX-The Texas Legends (25-23) finished off the home portion of their schedule in front of a sold-out crowd Saturday night in Frisco. Despite a 52-point combined effort from Manny Harris and Pierre Jackson, the Legends fell in the final seconds to the Austin Spurs (23-24) 114-117.

The two teams exchanged leads 27 times, tied 12, and kept the difference within 7 on both sides of the ball. Texas grabbed the first basket off the tip and took an early 4-0 lead. With both teams shooting over 50%, Texas held on to a 29-26 edge at the first buzzer. The Spurs relied on an 11-point performance from Orlando Johnson in the second to carry a four-point advantage into the half.

Texas shot 56% to Austin's 44% out of the locker room and outscored the visitors 29-23. With three minutes in the third, Texas matched their largest lead of the night (+7), but the Spurs would pull within two heading into the final minutes. The final 12 minutes saw seven more lead changes. The Spurs were firing on all cylinders shooting 80%, and pulled ahead by six with 20 seconds left in the game. Ben Gordon gave the three-point answer the Legends needed but the team could not convert a second as the clock ran out.

Harris, on assignment from the Mavericks, added 9 rebounds, 3 assists to his game-high 27 points while Jackson added a double-double with 25 points, 10 assists. Jameel Warney also grabbed a double-double for the Legends with 12 points, 10 rebounds. Gordon went 4-of-7 from outside to finish with 16 points, along with 4 assists and 4 steals.

Johnson and Charles Garcia added 21 each to lead the Spurs while Garcia added a team-high 7 rebounds. Jeff Ledbetter came off the bench to add 20 points, 5 boards, and Hollis Thompson grabbed 18 points off of 50% shooting.

Texas will hit the road to take on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers Thursday at 7pm and finish off the season at Oklahoma City Saturday at 7pm. Fans can catch all the action live at www.TexLegends.com .
