Lakeland Magic Come up Short against 905

The Lakeland Magic (18-17), the NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, lost to the Raptors 905 (22-14), 91-77 in front of a home crowd at the RP Funding Center.

Fresh off a road game Friday night, the Lakeland Magic couldn't quite pick up the momentum shooting just 32.1 percent (25-78 FG) from the field and 25.0 percent from three (10-40 3FG) on the night. The 905 took an early lead outscoring the Magic 28-19 in the first quarter shooting 54.2 percent to Lakeland's 32.0 percent from the field. The 905 took their lead into the locker room with halftime score of 50-40. The Magic came out strong in the second half outscoring the 905 21-18 in the quarter to get within 7 points but ultimately coming up short with a strong fourth quarter by the 905 to seal the win.

Rodney Purvis led the team in scoring with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Troy Caupain had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jamel Artis came out strong making an impact with 15 points and 7 rebounds. New addition Alan Anderson scored 11 points off the bench in just over 25 minutes of play.

For the 905, all starters scored in double digits. Both Kennedy Meeks and Lorenzo Brown had an impressive night each with a double-double scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds and 14 points, 10 rebounds respectively. Alfonzo McKinnie proved to be a key contributor with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Malcolm Miller scored 13 points with 5 rebounds.

The Magic play their next game at home against the Greensboro Swarm on Wednesday, February 21, at 11 a.m. following the All-Star break. The game can be seen on NBA TV. The Raptors 905 take on the Maine Red Claws on Monday, February 12, at 7:00 p.m.
