Iowa Falters in Loss against Stars
January 7, 2017 - NBA G League (G League)
Iowa Wolves News Release
Salt Lake City, Utah- The Iowa Energy (2-19) were held to their second lowest point total of the season in a 87-94 loss to the Salt Lake City Stars (5-14) Friday night.
Three players finished in double figures on a night where offensive production was hard to come by.
Wayne Selden Jr. had a team-high 20 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists.
Terry Whisnant continued his hot shooting from deep, finishing with 14 points, including 4-8 from the 3-point line.
The Energy established control early, building a 22-12 lead through the first while holding the Stars to just 5 of 22 shooting during the quarter.
Salt Lake City would bounce back in the second with 38 points to take a 50-43 lead at the break. It was a lead they would hold on to for much of the second half.
The Stars increased their lead by as many as 20 points in the fourth quarter before a late Energy rally brought the game to within seven in the closing seconds.
Quinton Chievous proved to be a spark off the bench for Iowa, recording 10 points and six rebounds on the evening.
The backcourt duo of Marcus Paige and Tyrone Wallace combined for 45 of Salt Lake City's 94 points. Paige recorded a game-high five 3-pointers in his first-ever matchup against Iowa.
The Iowa Energy finish their five-game road trip next Wednesday as they battle the Texas Legends at 7:00 p.m. CT.
