Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

Beloit, WI - For the second time in three days, the Bowling Green Hot Rods lost in extras, this time falling to the Beloit Snappers by a score of 3-2 in 12 innings at Pohlman Field on Saturday afternoon.

After holding on to win the first game of the series by a run, the Hot Rods fell behind first on a RBI single by Snappers designated hitter Nate Mondou in the third inning to make the score 1-0.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Hot Rods evened up the score on a solo homer by outfielder Jesus Sanchez.

For Sanchez, the homer was his team-leading fifth of the year and was his fourth roundtripper in his last eight games. He has five runs batted in this series in two games.

The score remained that way until the top of the eighth inning where the teams traded a run each.

Bowling Green got their run on a RBI single from shortstop Miles Mastrobuoni and Beloit got that back in the bottom of the frame with a RBI single by first basemen Miguel Mercedes.

Following a bases-loaded opportunity in the ninth inning and another one in the eleventh inning that went unfounded, the Snappers eventually won the game in the twelfth as Porter Clayton (L, 1-1) walked pinch-hitter Kyle Nowlin with the bases-loaded to score Mondou to win the game.

For the Hot Rods, the extra-inning game was their fifth of the year and fourth in the last 11 games. They are now just 1-4 this year when they play free baseball.

On the pitching side, Bowling Green got a solid start by Peter Bayer, who gave up just one run in five innings while striking out five. Lefty Dalton Moats also tossed two scoreless frames. Moats has not given up a run in eight of his first nine appearances this year.

The Hot Rods will finish their roadtrip in Wisconsin on Sunday with the rubbermatch of a three-game series against the Snappers. Bowling Green will send RHP Adrian Navas to the mound while Beloit will counter with RHP Dakota Chalmbers.

First pitch is at 2 p.m. central time at Pohlman Field.
