Twelve-Inning Game Ends in Walk-off Walk & 3-2 Snappers Win

Beloit 3 Bowling Green 2 (12 innings) - Saturday

WP: Bowers (1-0)

LP: Clayton (1-1)

S: None

Time: 3:40

Attn: 638

Scott Steinmann called upon Kyle Nowlin to pinch hit with the bases loaded in the 12th inning, and Nowlin came through with a walk-off walk to bring Nate Mondou home for the winning run. Saturday's win was the first win in extra innings for the Snappers in 2017, their first extra-inning game played at home, and their third walk-off victory of the season.

Beloit had game-winning situations with runners at second and third in the ninth and bases loaded in the 11th inning. The Snappers had the potential winning run out at home when JaVon Shelby came home on first contact off the bat of Edwin Diaz in the 11th. After Beloit scored the first run of the game, Trace Loehr was cut down at home when a single hit by Mondou slipped away for a moment from Bowling Green shortstop Miles Mastrobuoni.

Michael Murray was stellar in his start on Saturday, which seemed like a distant memory once the game was completed. Murray tossed five innings and struck out seven. The only run he allowed was a solo home run by Jesus Sanchez that landed directly on top of the right field wall and bounced out of the ballpark. Ty Damron followed Murray with three and one-third innings with six more strikeouts. Heath Bowers threw the final three and two-thirds innings by allowing just one Hot Rods hitter to get on base via a walk and retired the last nine hitters.

Trace Loehr, Luke Persico, Nate Mondou, Miguel Mercedes, and JaVon Shelby all collected two hits for the Snappers in the 12-inning victory. Loehr and Mondou each have a team-high eight multi-hit games, and Persico is 6-for-11 in the series with Bowling Green.
