Energy Hang Tough, Drop Contest to Legends

Frisco, Texas - Troy Williams' team-high of 26 points wasn't enough Wednesday evening as the Energy (2-20) fell 123-130 to the Texas Legends (11-9) in yet another tightly contested road loss.

In Glynn Cyprien's debut as interim head coach, the Energy gave the Legends all they could handle before a 17-12 Texas run in the final five minutes put the game away.

JaKarr Sampson finished with 17 points on 7-11 shooting from the field.

Wade Baldwin IV added 14 points, five rebounds and a team-high seven assists.

Down 10 after the first quarter, Iowa rallied in the second, outscoring Texas 35-24 to take a one point lead heading into half. The game would remain deadlocked throughout the second half until the Legends' late push in the fourth.

The Energy shot 52 percent from the field as a team and added 28 points from the charity stripe in the loss.

Rookie Quinton Chievous finished a rebound shy of earning a double-double, recording 13 points and nine rebounds.

Seven players finished in double figures for Iowa.

Pierre Jackson and Manny Harris continued their stellar seasons for the Legends, combining for 59 points. 14 rebounds and 17 assists.

The Energy return home to Wells Fargo Arena this Sunday, January 15 for a 4 p.m. matchup against the Greensboro Swarm.
