D-Fenders Beat Legends for Wire-To-Wire Victory

EL SEGUNDO - The D-Fenders beat the Texas Legends 114-98 tonight in El Segundo, CA.
Vander Blue (29 points, 8 rebounds) led the D-Fenders (14-14). Ryan Gomes notched a season-high 23 points, along with eight rebounds, his third consecutive 20-point game. Justin Harper notched a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Andre Ingram (14 points) and Justin Hawkins (14 points) also scored in double-figures. Josh Magette dished out 11 assists for Los Angeles.
Tu Holloway (28 points) paced Texas (15-11). Steven Pledger (18 points), Jamil Wilson (13 points, 7 rebounds), Patrick Miller (12 points) and Toure' Murry (11 points) all reached double-figures for the Legends.
Los Angeles led 29-23 after the first quarter, behind 11 points from Blue. The trend continued in the second quarter, with the D-Fenders outscoring the Legends 33-28 behind 10 points from Blue. At the half, Los Angeles led 62-51, Blue leading the way with 21 points, followed by Gomes with 12.
Texas battled in the second half, but Los Angeles edged the Legends 35-33 in the third quarter, behind 10 points from Harper. The D-Fenders closed it out strong, outscoring the Legends 17-14 in the final frame, to hold on to a 114-98 victory.
The D-Fenders shot .500 from the field, compared to .425 for the Legends. Los Angeles connected on 16-of-33 three-point attempts, while Texas shot 11-of-27. The D-Fenders finished with more rebounds (47-40) and assists (30-20) than the Legends.
Los Angeles stays home to host the Oklahoma City Blue on Saturday at 6:30pm PT in El Segundo.
