
Copperheads to expand ownsership

HOUSTON - The Texas Copperheads announced plans to expand the ownership group by seeking local investment. "From the onset of our involvement with the Texas Copperheads, our intent has been to develop a strong base of local owners," said Doug MacGregor, Texas af2 Holdings LLC President, "We believe that the team is ready to add local business leaders who want to be involved with building the team to the next level."
Attendance for home games at the Richard E. Berry Center has averaged 2,400 fans for the first half of the season. The Copperheads have enjoyed the support of local sponsors such as the Cy-Fair Medical Center, KSF and Kids R Kids.
The team's management announced their intent to immediately begin discussions with local community groups and businesses about the plan in order to ensure that the expanded ownership group is in place early in the off-season.
"We are pleased with the progress that the team has made both in reputation in the community as well as financial performance," said MacGregor, "We are excited about the strength and business model of the af2."
Texas af2 Holdings currently fields nine of af2 teams including the Texas Copperheads in Houston, the Austin Wranglers, and the Lubbock Renegades.
The Texas Copperheads are currently 2-8 for the season and will play their next home game on June 21st.
