C Sal Giardina Promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett

PEARL, MS - On Friday, May 25 the Atlanta Braves promoted Mississippi Braves catcher, Sal Giardina to the Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A Affiliate of the Atlanta Braves). Rome Braves catcher, Carlos Martinez was promoted to the Mississippi Braves (Double-A Affiliate of the Atlanta Braves).

Giardina, 26, appeared in six games with Double-A Mississippi in 2018. Over the course of six games, Giardina posted a .100/.400/.100 slash line with a R, 2 BB and 4 K. A native of Boyton Beach, Florida, Giardina was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 31st round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Lynn University (Boca Raton, Florida).

Martinez, 23, will join Double-A Mississippi for the first time in his young career after beginning the 2018 season with Single-A Rome. In 21 games played with the Rome Braves this season, Martinez posted a .270/.316/.324 slash line accompanied by 7 R, 24 TB, 4 2B, 6 RBI, 5 BB and 5 K. A native of Cartagena, Colombia, Martinez was signed by the Atlanta Braves as a non-drafted free agent on July 15, 2012.

The Mississippi Braves active roster currently stands at 24 players and 6 players remain on the Disabled List.
