BayHawks Snap Skid against Drive

Erie, Pennsylvania - The Erie BayHawks snapped a 17-game losing streak against the Grand Rapids Drive - the team to start the skid - this evening at Erie Insurance Arena, 127-123.
The BayHawks started fast, scoring 21 in the opening eight minutes of the first before the Drive went on a 12-3 run to retake the lead and close the quarter ahead 36-30. Alex Davis posted his season-high for points in a quarter with 12.
Grand Rapids continued their big offensive output in the second quarter to jump ahead to a 68-61 lead at half. Dahntay Jones of the Drive posted 19 points in the half with 13 of those coming in the second quarter.
The BayHawks went on an 11-0 run midway through the third to tie the game at 74. The teams traded baskets the remainder of the quarter to knot it up at 95 headed into the fourth.
Erie pulled away again midway through the fourth but were answered by six Drive points to pull the score within three in the closing seconds. The Drive fouled Aaron Harrison in the closing moments but he hit one of his two free throws to seal the game for the BayHawks.
The BayHawks broke their previous season-high for points in regulation set on December 28th against the Texas Legends. The previous high was 114. Erie was led by 35 points from Appling on 10 of 19 shooting. Erie's assignment players played a key role in the victory. Harrison, on assignment from the Charlotte Hornets, added 19 points while Branden Dawson, on assignment from the L.A. Clippers, notched 23 points (10-12). The BayHawks also eclipsed their season-high in field goal percentage by shooting 57% as a team.
The Drive were led by 30 points from Dahntay Jones. Ismael Romero added 24 points and nine rebounds. The Drive had six players in double digits.
The BayHawks return home Saturday for their last game at Erie Insurance Arena in the '15-'16 season against the Canton Charge for fan appreciation night.
