AUSTIN, Texas- The Austin Spurs (17-20), presented by SWBC, fell to the Iowa Energy (10-28), 102-89, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Sunday afternoon.
On assignment from San Antonio, Bryn Forbes led Austin with 20 points (2-4 3FG, 6-7 FT) and 5 rebounds in 34 minutes. Cory Jefferson recorded his 15th double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds in 37 minutes, while Patricio Garino chipped in with 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists in 33 minutes.
After being down by as many as 12 in the first quarter, the Spurs were able to cut the deficit to 7 at the half. Austin inched closer and closer to Iowa in a back-and-fourth third quarter, shortening the Energy's lead to only one point twice. Iowa was able to establish a double-digit lead at multiple points, ending the third quarter up by 6 points. In the fourth, Iowa's 14-3 run with 6:00 minutes left led to their highest lead of the game, 17 points, and sealed their win.
For the Energy, Memphis Grizzlies assignee Wade Baldwin IV contributed 22 points and 4 rebounds in 33 minutes, while JaKarr Sampson and Jarell Martin finished with 22 points each.
