Oklahoma City Blue News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City Thunder guard Cameron Payne scored 28 points with seven assists and five rebounds in 33 minutes, but the Oklahoma City Blue fell to the Reno Bighorns, 116-109, on Tuesday at the Cox Convention Center.
Mitch McGary posted 14 points and five boards and fellow Thunder assignment Josh Huestis scored eight points with eight rebounds. Talib Zanna recorded his fourth double-double of the year with 19 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and three steals. JP Tokoto tallied 12 points and Dakari Johnson added 11 points and nine rebounds.
Reno outscored the Blue 54-49 in the opening half before extending its lead to as many as 16 in the third quarter. Trailing 100-89 with seven minutes to play in the fourth, Oklahoma City used an 18-7 run over the next four minutes to tie the game at 107. The Bighorns responded with five straight points and the Blue was unable to recollect the lead in the final minutes.
"I was really pleased with our resilience and our fight tonight," said Blue Head Coach Mark Daigneault. "We allowed them to dictate the game in the first half and we were out of rhythm, especially to start the second half. We could have easily fallen apart but we stayed with it, kept fighting and got ourselves back in the game with a chance to win."
Oklahoma City (1-11) scored 58 points in the paint and outrebounded the Bighorns 48-43.
Reno (6-5) was led by Erick Green's 30-point performance.
The Blue heads out on a one-game road trip to face the Iowa Energy on Friday night before returning to OKC to face the Austin Spurs on Sunday at 2 p.m. For more information, visit OklahomaCityBlue.com.
