
Iowa Energy Improve to 2-0 with Win at Idaho

Boise, ID - The Iowa Energy (2-0) won 94-87 over the Idaho Stampede (1-2) Wednesday night at the CentruyLink Arena.
The Energy were led by Perry Jones III with a game-high 35 points and 14 rebounds. Cartier Martin added 21 points and seven rebounds. The Stampede were led by Jeff Ayres with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
It was a close first quarter to start the game, with four lead changes and three ties. Idaho briefly opened up a seven-point lead early in the quarter before the Energy came back to tie the game. The Energy then took advantage of early foul trouble from the Stampede, hitting eight of 13 free-throws in the first quarter. Lazeric Jones added eight first quarter points to lead the Energy as Idaho held a 23-21 lead heading into the second quarter. Martin and Jones III led the charge with 21 combined points in the second quarter as it remained a close game with 11 total lead changes in the first half. Iowa held a 46-44 advantage at halftime.
It continued to be a back and forth battle through most of the third quarter with the teams exchanging the lead nine more times. Iowa began to pull away in the closing minutes of the third quarter to end on a 9-0 run behind 13 points from Jones III. The Energy opened up a 14 point lead mid-way through the fourth before the Stampede were slowly able to close the gap back down to one in the closing minute. Lazeric Jones would hit two late free-throws to seal the game for the Energy with a 94-87 win.
The Energy come home for Opening Night presented by Cognizant this Saturday, Nov. 21 at 7p.m. Fans can enjoy $2 beer, rally towel giveaway and a halftime performance by Acrodunk.
