Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Today the Southern League announced that Chattanooga Lookouts' infielder Daniel Mayora has been named the Southern League Player of the Week for the period of August 4-10. Mayora is the third Chattanooga Lookouts' player to earn a weekly accolade from the league this season, outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker took home the award for the week of 5/12 and first baseman O'Koyea Dickson won it for the week of 7/21.

In six games, Mayora went 12-for-23 (.522) with two doubles, one triple, one home run and six RBIs. His 12 hits last week was tied for the most amount of hits in all of Double-A baseball during that span. The infielder's outstanding week has helped lead the Lookouts to a season-high nine game winning streak and back into contention. The Lookouts now have a record of 23-25 and are only one game back of the Tennessee Smokies for the division lead.

Last week's numbers were not an aberration for Mayora who has been on fire in the second half. After the All-Star break the Venezuelan native is hitting .335 (61-for-182) with 17 extra-base hits and 28 RBIs. His 61 hits in the second-half is the second most in all of Double-A baseball during that time period.

Tomorrow, Mayora will set out to help the Lookouts extend their winning streak to 10 games when they take on the Jacksonsville Suns at AT&T Field. RHP Andres Santiago (3-7, 4.72) will start the first game of the five-game series against RHP Jose Urena (10-7, 3.51) at 7:15 p.m.

Tickets for this upcoming homestand, which includes Arts Night/Fireworks Friday (8/15) and College Football Night (8/16), can be bought online at www.lookouts.com or by phone at 423-267-4TIX.
