Revs to Host Games 3-5 in Divisional Playoffs

July 10, 2014 - Atlantic League (AtL)
York Revolution News Release

(York, Pa.): The York Revolution has announced their home playoff schedule for the 2014 divisional round, in conjunction with the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. The club will host games 3, 4 (if necessary) and 5 (if necessary) in the best-of-five divisional round on September 26, 27 and 28 at Santander Stadium against an opponent to be determined.

The two Atlantic League first half division winners may choose either hosting the first two games of the series, or the final three. The Revolution won the Freedom Division first half title with a 41-29 record. York will play either the second half winner of the Freedom Division, or, should York win both halves, a wild card qualifier. The series will begin with games 1 and 2 on September 24 and 25.

"Looking at the postseason from all baseball and business angles, hosting games three through five if necessary made the most sense for us," said Revolution President & General Manager Eric Menzer. "Our fans will enjoy having these playoff games on weekend dates, and having home-field advantage is important with as well as we've played at home this season," Menzer continued.

September 29 and 30 are scheduled off-days in the Atlantic League postseason, to make up any potential rainouts. The best-of-five Atlantic League Championship Series will be played over five consecutive days as well, October 1-5, with sites to be announced based on which four teams qualify for the postseason, due to potential wild card scenarios should York and/or the Somerset Patriots (Liberty Division first half winners) win both halves.

Playoff ticket information will be forthcoming shortly, on the team's official website YorkRevoluton.com and on its various social media channels. Tickets to postseason games will be available for purchase on a per-game basis, for the same price as regular season games. Playoff ticket packages will also be available, with refunds/2015 season ticket credits for any "if necessary" games not played.

York is striving for its third championship, after winning an Atlantic League crown in 2010 and 2011. It's the fifth playoff berth for the organization in its eight seasons of existence, and the third in the last four seasons. The Revolution won the Freedom Division first half in 2010, and the second half in 2008, 2011 and 2012.

The York Revolution Professional Baseball Club is a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. 2014 is the Revolution's eighth season of operation at Santander Stadium, the centerpiece of Downtown York, PA, located at 5 Brooks Robinson Way. The facility hosts all 70 home games in addition to myriad events through the entire calendar year.
