SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors fell to the Los Angeles D-Fenders 121-107 Saturday evening.
Santa Cruz was paced by Cameron Jones, who scored 26 points. Hilton Armstrong and Seth Curry each scored 17, while Dominic McGuire logged a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds in addition to his game-high six assists and game-high five blocks.
Los Angeles' Manny Harris led all scorers with 56 points, which is a record for a Santa Cruz opponent in a single game, along with 15 boards. Travis Hyman had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Josiah Turner scored 11 off the bench.
There were six lead changes in the first half, with Santa Cruz pulling away on a 15-4 run to end the second quarter and taking a nine-point lead into intermission. After a quick Santa Cruz bucket, Los Angeles went on a 15-0 run in the third quarter. Santa Cruz fought back and took a 71-69 lead with 5:38 left in the third, but the D-Fenders ended the period ahead by seven and never looked back. The D-Fenders' 70 second-half points is an all-time high for a Santa Cruz opponent.
The D-Fenders held the edge on field goal shooting (45.3%-42.7%), rebounds (55-49) and turnovers (7-16). The Warriors had more assists (20-18), while each team had six steals.
