
Bombers Add Two Imports to Roster

WINNIPEG, MB., January 15, 2014 - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce today the signings of import defensive back Gabe Loper, and import linebacker Kenny Tate. As per team policy, details of the agreements are not disclosed.
Loper (6-2, 186, South Alabama, May 29, 1990 in Meridian, Mississippi) played 2011 and 2012 on the defensive side of the ball, racking up 52 tackles with three interceptions, with three broken up passes. He also played some wide receiver in 2013 with South Alabama.
Tate (6-4, 220, Maryland, May 15, 1990 in Forestville, Maryland) had an excellent five-year career at Maryland, where he played a variety of positions on defence and was a first-team all-ACC selection following a breakout junior season. That year, he recorded 100 tackles, 3.5 sacks and three interceptions while being a real force on defence. In the 2011 season, he racked up 35 tackles and two interceptions in the first four games, before suffering an injury. His senior season saw him record 42 tackles, 6.5 for loss, and four quarterback sacks, after missing the first three games. Tate played in two Bowl games during his tenure - the 2008 Humanitarian Bowl, and the 2010 Military Bowl.
