La Fiera Need Shootout for Road Win

WICHITA, Kansas - Hidalgo La Fiera needed a shoot-out to notch their four straight victory and second straight road win over the Wichita B52's by a score of 6-5 at the Hartman Arena on Saturday night.

La Fiera (4-1) scored the first goal with under two minutes gone by when Noe De Los Santos scored his second goal of the season to make it 1-0.

Hidalgo would then increase their lead four minutes later when Armando Teran slotted home a Carlos Farias pass that made it 2-0.

La Fiera would score another goal two minutes later when Carlos Farias setup Joel Perez to make it 3-0 in the first quarter. Alejandro Morales would score the fourth goal in the quarter to give Hidalgo a 4-0 lead.

Wichita (1-3) responded in the first quarter when Larry Martinez scored his first goal of the season with the assist from Colin Lawter to make it 4-1. The B52's trimmed the deficit to start the second quarter when Colin Lawter scored making it 4-2. Wichita would continue their comeback with a power play from Matt Clare with the assist from Lawter making it 4-3.

Hidalgo would score a goal from Angel Sanchez making it 5-3 which gave them the halftime lead.

After a scoreless third quarter, the B52's responded with a power play goal from Chris Lemons that made it 5-4. Then with over two minutes left, Wichita tied the game at five all when Brady Bryant scored his first goal of the season.

After a scoreless overtime period, Joel Perez scored one of the two shoot out goals to give La Fiera the win and the fourth overall. Goal keeper and Brownsville, Texas native Juan Gamboa earned his fourth win of the season while saving a career high 44 shots.

The next game for Hidalgo La Fiera is on Sunday, December 1, on the road versus Texas Strikers at the Ford Arena with the kickoff set for 7:05 pm. The next home game for la La Fiera is on Sunday, December 15th when they host the Monterrey Flash at State Farm Arena.
