San Diego Sockers News Release

SACRAMENTO--Kraig Chiles broke out with a hat trick and two assists as the San Diego Sockers cruised past the Sacramento Surge 11-4, finishing off a two-win weekend trip through Northern California. Raymundo Reza added a pair of goals and team captain Aaron Susi contributed a goal and two assists as the Sockers (2-2) evened their record after back-to-back home losses to open the season.

Facing a winless Surge (0-5) team that offered little resistance, the Sockers put up their highest goal total and largest margin of victory of the year. After conceding the game's opening score, San Diego rolled off six straight goals to close out the first half, with Reza putting home both of his scores. Eduardo Velez, Anthony Medina and Evan McNeley also tallied before the break.

San Diego's power play continued its season-long struggle, posting an 0-for-4 night, but the Sockers were able to convert a pair of set piece goals and generally improve their offensive form. Susi's goal opened San Diego's third quarter scoring, with Chiles contributing his second of the night on a restart, and Brian Farber adding his second goal of the year.

Surge head coach Jorge Fernandez was red carded for strenuous dissent to start the fourth quarter. Chiles scored his hat trick goal on a Diego Rovira assist, then returned the favor with 1:35 remaining, setting up Rovira's first goal of the season.

The Sockers are off for the next two weeks before facing the Ontario Fury on December 12th.
