Calgary Stampeders News Release
The battle for playoff positioning in the West Division heats up on Friday as the Stampeders face the BC Lions in Week 16 action at McMahon Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
Calgary (11-3) is two games up on both BC (9-5) and Saskatchewan (9-5) in the battle for first place in the West and three of the Stamps' final four games of the regular season are against the Lions and Roughriders.
The season series between the Stamps and Lions is tied at one victory apiece as Calgary was a 44-32 winner at McMahon in Week 1 while BC claimed a 26-22 decision in Week 8 at Vancouver's BC Place. The teams will meet once more in Vancouver in the regular-season finale.
Calgary opened up a two-game lead in the West by dropping the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 38-11 on Saturday at McMahon. The Lions, meanwhile, lost a 31-17 decision to the Roughriders at BC Place.
The Stamps are 6-1 at home in 2013 while the Lions have a 3-4 road record. Both clubs are 4-2 in division play.
Between them, the Stamps and Lions have won four of the five last regular-season titles in the West Division. Calgary finished in first place in both 2008 and 2010 while BC was tops in 2011 and 2012.
