
Lancaster Wins Series Opener 4-3 over Somerset

Lancaster, PA - The Lancaster Barnstormers (29-27) defeated the Somerset Patriots (36-19) 4-3 Monday evening from Clipper Magazine Stadium in front of 4,471 fans in the series opener.
In the top of the second inning right fielder Cory Aldridge spanked a solo home run (2) to center field to give Somerset an early 1-0 lead.
Lancaster evened the contest at 1-1 as right fielder Matt Spencer recorded a RBI double in the bottom of the third inning.
Somerset regained the lead in the top of the fourth frame as catcher Adam Donachie served a RBI single into right field to put his team on top 2-1.
Third baseman Corey Smith slapped a RBI single in the top of the fifth inning to expand Somerset's lead to 3-1.
The Barnstormers cut the deficit in half as first baseman Austin Gallagher slugged a towering home run (1) to deep right-center field to make the score 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Lancaster took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning as second baseman Travis Denker connected on a two run home run (9) to right-center field to catapult the Barnstormers on top with a 4-3 lead which would be the final score.
Yoslan Herrera (1-1) earned the win in relief. David Harden (7-2) suffered the complete game loss. Jason Urquidez notched his 12th save of the season pitching a scoreless ninth inning.
The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Monday, June 24th when the Patriots return home to take on the Camden Riversharks at 7:05 p.m. The game features Bark in the Park Night where all fans are allowed to bring their dog to the ballpark.
