New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The Rock Cats dropped their series opener to the Harrisburg Senators 4-1 at New Britain Stadium Friday evening.

Starter LHP Logan Darnell labored through the first two innings, giving up three runs on four hits and an error. He would eventually settle down and put together another solid outing, going seven innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on six hits while walking one and striking out three.

The Cats would get one back in the third inning when newcomer OF Angel Morales, who spent time in New Britain during its 2009 playoff run, smacked a solo shot off of RHP Caleb Clay.

3B Miguel Sano, rated the #1 prospect in the Twins system, got his first Double-A hit in the contest - a base hit that glanced off of 3B Justin Bloxom's glove and stayed in the infield. Sano would make more of impact with his glove during the night, including an incredible barehanded play made on SS Josh Johnson in the top of the ninth.

The visiting Senators would tack on a run in the ninth when C Jeff Howell hit a solo home run off of reliever RHP Matt Hauser.

The Rock Cats take on the Senators Saturday night when New Britain sends RHP Tom Stuifbergen to the mound against RHP Rob Gilliam for a 6:35 p.m. contest.
