Fort Worth Cats News Release

The Fort Worth Cats prevailed in a back-and-forth battle against the Alexandria Aces 8-7 on Tuesday night in Alexandria.

Roman Gomez, a newly signed Cat, got the start and surrendered six runs in 3.2 innings.

The Cats (11-7) scored first with an unearned run in the second, but the lead was short-lived as the Aces (9-9) rebounded with two in the third.

The Cats went ahead with three runs in the fourth, but the Aces again rallied and went ahead with four runs of their own.

Again in the top of the fifth inning, the Cats tied the game, but Alexandria went ahead in the bottom half.

The Cats tied the game 7-7 with a Greg Bachman sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. Bachman finished the game 2-for-3 with 3 RBI.

Fort Worth struck the final blow with back-to-back doubles by Aljay Davis and Daniel Meeley in the ninth inning and Boomer Potts came on and earned his fourth save of the season.

Overall, there were three ties and six lead changes in the game.

The Cats' bullpen came on in relief of Gomez and surrendered no earned runs in 5.1 innings of work. Another new Cat, Wes Ulsup, sat the Aces' batters down in order in seventh innings.

With the win, the Cats remain a game ahead of the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings for first place in the United League.

The Cats play game three of the four-game series on Wednesday and will return home to play an eight game series against the McAllen Thunder on Friday.
