San Antonio Missions News Release

Costly errors doomed San Antonio in a 7-3 loss to Frisco Wednesday night at Wolff Stadium.

Early on it looked like the Wolff was going to be treated to another great pitching duel, with Missions' right-hander Donn Roach and 'Riders righty Neil Ramirez matching zeroes for three innings.

In the top of the fourth, Frisco took advantage of a missed catch error by Jake Blackwood to take a 1-0 lead.

An inning later, Blackwood made up for his defensive miscue by tying the game with an RBI double to left center.

Unfortunately for Roach, the game did not stay tied for long as the RoughRiders took advantage of two more Mission errors in the sixth, erupting for five runs and a commanding 6-1 lead. The five runs tied the most allowed by the Missions in an inning at the Wolff this season. Frisco's big inning was capped by a two-run homer by Hanser Alberto off reliever Ryan Kelly, who replaced Roach with one out in the frame.

Roach (4-5) allowed five runs (none earned) on seven hits and a walk in his five and a third innings of work.

Trailing 7-1 in the seventh, San Antonio got a Reymond Fuentes RBI double and an A.J. Kirby-Jones sacrifice fly to cut their deficit to four. However, reliever Jimmy Reyes ended any San Antonio comeback hopes when he retired the side in order in the ninth.

Ramirez (6-2) got the win with six innings of one-run, three-hit ball. The 24-year-old improved to 3-0 this season against the Missions.

San Antonio (31-26) and Frisco (33-25) resume their four-game series Thursday on Cricket Dollar Night presented by News 4 WOAI. The Missions will look to get back on track with right-hander Matt Andriese, who is 6-1 with a 2.21 ERA this season in 11 starts. The RoughRiders will counter with Kevin Pucetas (6-4, 4.63). First pitch is slated for 7:05 PM.

Notes: Fuentes finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, extending his on-base streak to 27 games. Only Corpus Christi's Rene Garcia (30) has had a longer on-base streak in the TL this season. Blackwood's double extended his home hit-streak to nine games. Johan Limonta went 1-for-3, extending his home on-base streak to 12 games.
