RHP Yeiper Castillo promoted from High-A Daytona; RHP Dallas Beeler placed on DL

KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Class AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announced today that RHP Yeiper Castillo has been added to the team's active roster. In a corresponding roster move, RHP Dallas Beeler has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to Monday, April 20.

The Smokies active roster remains at 25, which is the Southern League maximum.

Castillo, 24, joins the Smokies for the first time in his career, having started the 2013 campaign with the High-A Daytona Cubs. With the D-Cubs, the righty was 1-0 with a 2.33 ERA (7 ER/27.0 IP) in eight appearances, three starts. In 27 innings, Castillo struck out 27 batters while walking only four. The Caracas, Venezuela native signed with the Cubs as a minor league free agent in 2012.

Beeler, 22, heads to the DL with a 4-2 record and a 3.13 ERA (19 ER/54.2 IP) in nine starts for the Smokies this season. The Tulsa, Okla. native was drafted by the Cubs in the 41st round of the 2010 draft.
