LOVES PARK, Ill. - Washington (1-3) starter Justin Hall pitched a complete-game shutout for the Wild Things as they blanked the Aviators (1-3), presented by Pearson, 10-0 Tuesday night.
Washington scored early and often, plating two runs in the first, three in the second and one in the fifth to go up 6-0 before Rockford pitcher Hayden Shirley came in and worked four scoreless innings in relief, striking out five Wild Things in the process.
Things got worse for Rockford in the seventh when Washington designated hitter Stewart Ijames hit a solo home run that was followed three batters later by a three-run homerun from C.J. Beatty to make it 10-0.
Hall (1-0) got the win for Washington, Aviators' starter Jordan Cudney (0-1) took the loss for the Aviators.
The two teams will play again tomorrow at 10 a.m. on Education Day, which also doubles as a Businessman Special. Rockford Chamber of Commerce and IGNITE members receive $3 admission.
