Guelph Storm News Release

With the conclusion of the OHL playoffs, the Storm will be announcing our major award winners for the 2012-13 season over the next couple of days.

The Storm announced today that Garrett Sparks was named the team's Most Valuable Player for the 2012-13 season. With a record of 36-17-0-4, Sparks was arguably the Storm's most consistent player breaking the team's all time wins record with 36 and shutouts with 7. The Elmhurst, Illinois native finished second in the OHL in wins and shutouts and in the top 10 for goals against average (2.65) and save percentage (0.917).

Drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs last summer, the 19 year old signed with the Leafs and reported to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey team in March. When the Storm were ousted from the playoffs, Sparks joined the Marlies and won his first AHL game in his first AHL start making 23 saves.
